I lived in Hermosa Beach for a time while it was a hippy town, before it became a yuppie town. There is a lot of similarity between Manhattan, Hermosa Beaches and Mission Beach. There is however, one big difference. The political leaders in Manhattan and Hermosa Beaches have chosen to put the residents first, while in San Diego, the mayor is all about short term rentals. And the result is that our mayor has left the door open for, pretty much anything, scooters, short term rentals, garbage everywhere and junk cars parked in the alleys. We in Mission Beach have 11 times the density compared to Manhattan Beach.
That is a ridiculous ratio. In fact, if you check out the second chart bar graph, nothing comes close to Mission Beach. It is time to put this all in perspective and establish a realistic limit for Mission Beach, or better eliminate the carve out and we can fight it out with everyone else.
