Vacation rentals are not an essential business, and therefore should not be accepting visitors. But we have owners investors who are ignoring the rules and that is going to result in increasing coronavirus counts by zip code. But first, there is a video recorded by Greg Knight showing vacation rental parties in North Mission Beach not far north of Belmont Park.
Greg's report goes like this:
"We have been on and off the phone with police all week on the units next to us. We even went up to the sergeant who said right now the officers will only come to a private residence for violence, guns, or noise. They will not come for a group of people no matter how large. The police do not want to subject themselves to anything all these people may be bringing in any more than we do. They told us that they are putting their efforts to public places (such as the actual beach) and businesses. Seems they are more than willing to take down a hair dresser, but not these guys.
This needs to be stopped at the Mayor's level right now. I am not trying to make this a pro vs anti stvr. The facts are that most all other resort style cities have closed their airbnbs during the pandemic and we should be doing the same."
